Our approach goes beyond organic protocol, and it is based on the control and management of the vital processes of living organisms through the application of self-produced homeopathic treatments made out natural substances present in our farm. In this way the natural defenses of plants against pests, plant pathologies and environmental stresses such as drought, frost, hail etc. are stimulated.
To this we use other methods such as the reproduction of native microorganisms to stimulate soil fertility.
The work in the vineyard is done by hand from pruning to harvesting. “Being in the vineyard on foot,” allow us to follow the progress of our work from the soil to the grapes and monitor the phenological growth of the latter closely and intervene as soon as possible when necessary.
We apply the same philosophy in the cellar through the spontaneous fermentation of musts, without the addition of selected yeasts, adjuvants, sulphites or other enzymes.
In addition to routine chemical analysis of musts, we monitor the evolution of our work with qualitative analyzes such as soil and wine chromatography. Capillary dynamolysis allows us to assess the degree of vitality and nutritional value of our wines.

We own 2 hectares of owned and managed  vineyards. Morover, in 2026, we’ll plant an extra hectare of  Cesanese di Affile vines attentively selected from our “half-century” Piglio and Serrone vineyards. For years we have been selecting grapes using natural methods from small plots of old Piglio vineyards.

Cesanese del Piglio DOCG ``L'Onda`` is born

Since the 2009 harvest, Maria Ernesta have chosen to work with her family vineyard at ``Colli Santi`` coming out with a new label to mark a new course. From this vineyard, to which her childhood memories are linked, was born the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG “L’Onda”.

2009

The first self harvest

In spring 2014 Maria Ernesta extended the company of a further hectare of land with the addition of two vineyards planted in the 60s in Casalotto and Grotte. The same year she performed the first harvest completely from pruning to bottling, a difficult vintage. Passion and stubbornness, however, bring good results.

2014

Holo-homeopathic viticulture

Maria Ernesta meet Geminiano. Their goal is to have a resilient agro system against adversity, able to cope with pests, diseases and climatic stress without the support of external products, capable of producing healthy grapes to make into wine.

New headquarters of Maria Ernesta Berucci's Winery

In 2018 Maria and Geminiano renovated the historic Massimi Berucci winery, closed since 1983, and created a modern winery where their artisanal practices are combined with a process of vinification and refinement held in different materials that range from raw concrete to amphorae, to large wood; this enables them to express different identities and nuances of the Terroir in their wines.

Waiting for the expansion of our vineyards

The planting of 1.5 hectares of vineyard is expected in 2026 in addition to the Terra Felix vineyard in Paliano. For several years we have been studying the clonal variety of older vineyards to carry out the mass selection of the oldest and most expressive clones of Cesanese di Affile.
